"I don't want to run around trees," says Gangster girl Kangana Ranaut the hot new Bollywood star who is making waves.
Kangana Ranaut, 19, is the hot new chic who is making waves on the marquee. She doesn’t believe in doing roles that merely require her to look pretty and dance around trees.
Her dream debut in Bollywood with Mahesh Bhatt’s Gangster - A Love Story has made her a household name in India. Strongly denying rumors about her secret alliance with male co-star Shiny Ahuja, Kangana told Starnews on Friday that it was an occupational hazard and she had to learn to live with it.
“I'll remain forever grateful to Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt sahib for giving me a break like Gangster. Newcomers dream of such a launch and I actually got it,” she confessed. Talking about her next film Woh Lamhe (Those moments), she said she spent hours understanding her role in playing late Parveen Babi.
When asked as to how her career had progressed so far, she remarked: “I am very satisfied with the way things have gone till now. Earlier, I used to get nervous when I faced the camera. Today, I stick to the basics. I follow simple acting tips and am learning to perform on the spot.” She made it clear that she was interested in doing acting-oriented roles only.
After doing two films with the Bhatt’s production house, Vishesh Films, Kangana is now working with other producers and directors as well. One of the three films she will be acting in will be Anurag Basu’s Metro. The movie will have Kangana working with senior actors like Kay Kay Menon, Konkana Sen, and Shilpa Shetty and not to forget Shiney Ahuja. Another film will be directed by David Dhawan.
