Kangana Ranaut , the latest addition to the young crop of Bollywood actresses is not only bold and glamorous, but also extremely talented. She shot into the limelight following her debut movie Gangster. Her versatility will no doubt help her gain a firm footing in Bollywood. Here’s Kangana in an exclusive tête-à-tête with our correspondent Roma Kapadia
Q. Your debut film Gangster has made you an overnight star. How challenging was it playing this
role?
A. Firstly, my role was well sketched out and Anurag and Bhatt Sahab had briefed me well about my role. So when I got into the character, I did not realise that I was actually enacting some very tough scenes. I was a raw newcomer and just followed the instructions of the directors without ever realising the magnitude of it.
Q. Gangster has brought you a lot of recognition including awards. How does it feel to be winning awards at such a young age?
A. Awards and appreciation from fans are what keeps an actor motivated to do better. I was definitely thrilled to bag all the awards that I have collected in one debut year. I hope this is just the beginning. And it's great if awards are given to newcomers because it brings them appreciation for their efforts. Also, it brings their work into focus.
Q. You have been nominated the best actress for Gangster at IIFA, one of the most popular awards. Do you think you will win it?
A. May the best actress win!!
