New Delhi (PTI): Director of National Award winning movies 'Chandini Bar' and 'Page 3,' Madhur Bhandarkar, says much like his earlier movies, his forthcoming flick,'Fashion', is an attempt to depict the seamy side of the much glamourised fashion industry.
"'Fashion' is another reality film exposing the underbelly of the fashion industry. Research is on and shooting will commence in December," he says.
Bhandarkar, however, refuses to comment on whether the Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut starer was based on the tragic life of Delhi model Gitanjali Nagpal. "I cannot answer speculations on whether it is based on Gitanjali Nagpal or anything else. I can only say - wait and watch." Gitanjali was noticed by a photographer roaming on the streets having become homeless.
"My movies show things as they are. I do not believe in spoonfeeding the audience. It is up to them to form an opinion," the director says.
On his experience as the judge of 'Direct a Movie', an attempt to select a director from the videos uploaded on the Reliance's social networking site Bigadda.com, Madhur says such events will encourage upcoming talent. "It was a nice experience, a really nice experience. There were some good videos to choose from and we have finally zeroed in on a very promising talent, Siddharth Sen Gupta, who has made a film on the evils of smoking."
"The youngsters today are well informed and their ideas are well groomed. There is some serious talent awaiting the film industry." he says.
"I am always happy to associating myself with shows that give the common man especially the youth a chance to exhibit their talent." "Earlier I was also associated with Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj." he says.
The 'Page 3' director agrees that economic considerations cannot be overlooked in film making. "Economics is crucial in film making today but I try my best to mirror the reality in my films. This could have a positive side and a flip side. But I agree that keeping in mind the money factor is essential especially with so much of it being pumped into every film." He says that he is never influenced by any vested interest while making films which expose the high and the mighty "I make films the way I want and not under any pressure."
On whether he would like to make romantic flick , he says enthusiastically "I would very much want to make one." He also adds that romantic films need not always be surreal." 'Ek Dooje Ke Liye' and 'QSQT' were romantic hits grounded in reality."
