It's not just SRK who can do that extra bit to get into the skin of the character even other celebrities are prepared to go the whole hog

SHAH RUKH Khan's six-pack abs created a big stir and became a value addition to the much hyped Om Shanti Om but SRK had to go through much pain to attain the item boy look. If a superstar like SRK can do that extra bit to get into the skin of the character or as a marketing tool, then even others are prepared to go to any lengths.

Preparing for a role has taken on a whole new meaning now.

Just recently, SRK’s OSO buddy Shreyas Talpade went for a lean look for his film Bombay to Bangkok. The actor had to go shirtless for just one scene but he developed cold feet since he had put on weight. Shreyas sweated it out in the gym day after day, not because he wanted to develop six-pack abs but just to get the lean look right for that one shirtless scene.

John took to smoking over 50 cigarettes a day during his No Smoking days which tool a toll on him. Soon after, he began shooting for his football flick Goal, where he had to work out like crazy to get his fitness back since he was supposed to have enough stamina to play a football player. If that was not enough, he then went on to play an HIV patient in Nagesh Kukunoor’s next for which had to lose quite a few kilos and look pale and weak. Now that is some feat.

Actresses are not far behind either. Priyanka Chopra who is by no means overweight will have to cut her weight down further to get the skinny look of a supermodel in Fashion right. She is planning to go down to 45 kilos and is on a starvation diet.

Fashion has also caused another actress to undergo a major change. Kangna Ranaut will chop off her long beautiful tresses for the role of the model—loosely based on the real-life model Geetanjali- who ends up on the streets. She is super excited about changing her look to get into her character. A drastic step to chop off her sexy tresses just for a role.

Kareena Kapoor, as we all know, is looking slimmer than ever. But recently when she had to shoot a hot number for Yash Raj Film’s Tashan, she didn’t leave any stone unturned to get her look to perfect. She began a strict diet and exercise and yoga routine just before she left with Saif for the shooting schedule in Europe.

While SRK had gone for the lean look, Aamir Khan is now building his body for a muscular look. He has to be beefed up for his character in Ghajini though this not the first time that the actor has played around with his look. He got a hip hair-style for Dil Chahta Hai, a moustache for Mangal Pandey and spiked hair for Taare Zameen Par.

Ajay Devgan who hates the idea of shaking a leg, learnt salsa for months on end, as he had to shoot a long dance sequence for his directorial venture U Me Aur Hum.

And there are some more- Abhishek grew his hair long for Drona, Vivek Oberoi’s went for the new unkempt look for Mission Istanbul, Saif Ali Khan got a peculiar-shaped moustache for Tashan, Vidya Balan got herself a new cooler looking hair-cut for Kismet Connection to suit her co-star Shahid Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor will be seen going through various stages of his life and will have three different looks for Yash Raj Films’ next to be directed by Siddharth Anand. He has been going through various trial sessions and has also been doing separate photo-shoots with each of the four leading ladies of the film—Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Minnisha Lamba.
