Bollywood starlet Kangana Ranaut has spoken the unthinkable - may be she wants to promote her new film Fashion, but she really has laid it on thick.
Kangana says that she has no respect for 'commercial Bollywood films', and that her focus in life has been to star in 'different', 'offbeat' and 'explosive' films.
Just so you know, her previous films include Gangster, Wo Lamhe, Life in a Metro and Hello. And yeah, you could place those films smack down in the middle of the commercial segment. 'Fashion' is the most commercial film Madhur Bhandarkar has done.
Anyhow this is what Ms Ranaut has to say, "I never felt like being a part of a hardcore Bollywood commercial film because I have no respect for such cinema".
"It is like an immortal work of art. For me my movies are my heart-beat. I cannot do a stupid film in which people laugh while they are watching it. So I have to be very careful".
The ones who laughed when she pulled out her underwear in front of 3 dozen people including Shiney Ahuja in 'Wo Lamhe' are going to heck. But we're not making any fun.
"It hurts me emotionally and mentally," she says, "when people make fun about the characters in the film. I don't like people making fun of movies and characters. You should be given respect in society and for the work you do."
Kangana Ranaut, ladies and gentlemen.
